MAMAMILLA

WEBSHOP REDESIGN

In 2021 I was in charge of designing MamaMillas newest baby collection. Below are some examples of my work with the collection. If you are interested in more references with MamaMilla you can also check out my logo design or my labels and packaging.

Vision

MamaMillas logo and main symbol is an owl, and their core product is a babynest. The rest of their products revolves around soft products for babies, like beddings, pillows and bed bumpers. So making the decision to use feathers as the main print in the collection was pretty natural and intuitive.

In contrast to some of their previous collections prior to my employment, I wanted to focus on a very soft and calm color palette.

The 3 shades of blue and the 3 shades of rose in the print, are the same shades that continue throughout the whole collection. Everything can be mixed and matches. Both color palettes of rose and blue are accompanied by a soft and warm cream white.

Consistency & Recognizability

Main part of the task in redesigning the entire webshop, was making sure to create pages with a clear theme, and with consistency and recognizability across all sites.

Color palette: soft, warm & earthy

I wanted to keep af very soft and warm color palette throughout the site. I also made sure all images had a softer look and most of them within the same color palette to create a calmer touch and experience for the site visitors.

Overly text heavy site in need of images

The old website was really text heavy on all of it’s pages.

As an overall basic I wanted the design to have simple ‘white space’, letting the important elements stand out. By doing this it also allowed me to create a hierarchy of importance among the elements.

The overall redesign liftet the entire user experience and generated a lot of interaction with the site, ultimately resulting in increased sales.

Lack of visual elements

Some of the primary elements done to this site was:

The site was in need of visual elements such as buttons and other call to action elements instead of inline links.

The site was in need of images to underline and substantiate the content.

The images added were all in the same style and color palette to create a soft look.

A soft and calm look was essential to the brands product and a webshop with products for babies.

continuity throughout the site

The webshop contained a lot of different sites ranging from product overview, product sites, inspiration sites, information sites and even blogs.

It was inportant to create continuity on all the sites, making sure the customer recognized the brand on all pages.

Compatible with all devices

The design also needed to be ready and compatible with all devices.

A lot of orders were made by parents in the middle of the night on their phones, while lying awake with their babies.
